My brother Douglas is lost. Please help us find him. Douglas Wayne Daniels was born to my father Glenn M. Holmes and Shirley Elizabeth(?) Daniels May 26,1960 in Calgary, Alberta. He and two older brothers Joseph and Dennis contracted tuberculosis and were hospitalised in the Baker Memorial Sanitorium just outside Bowness, Alberta. (Now part of Calgary)
When the disease had run its course, the three boys were not returned to their parents. Rather, Family Services placed them in foster homes "for their own good". Joe and Dennis remained together for most of their growing up years, but "Dougie" was placed separately from them.
It was only after she had passed away that it we discovered that our grandmother, Ethel Holmes, had been in touch with the Alberta Family Services and had been kept apprised of their status, if not their whereabouts for a time. She was granted this concession only on conditon she kept it secret.
The picture to the left was found in her papers after she died, and was passed to Glenn, and thence to me when he passed away. Written on the back is "Douglas Wayne Daniels Christmas 1962" and on the front in the margin is the processing date "Jan 63". It is the only picture we have of Dougie.
There were rumours that he had been adopted by a doctor who was connected with the Baker Sanitorium.
The family has been reconnected with Joe and Dennis but not Doug. We would really appreciate any clue to his whereabouts.
