Dave Holmes was presented with the
Canadian Peace Keeping Service Medal at a ceremony in Mississauga, Ontario on September 11, 2001.
Captain Luc Laverrière, Commanding Officer of 105 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps made the presentation, assisted by Mr. Joe Ryan, Cadet League Liason Officer. Mr. Ryan is a World War II veteran, a former commando, who was taken prisoner of war at Dieppe.
Dave was a Corporal in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals (RCSigs) when he served as a member
of the United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) in 1969. He is now a Civilian Instructor with the
105 RCACC in Streetsville, and performs the functions of Recruiting Officer and Chief Instructor.

The Nobel Peace Prize for 1988 was awarded to the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces. To commemorate this award the Canadian government ushered in the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal at an inaugural presentation ceremony in September 06, 2000. All personnel who served on former, current and future peacekeeping missions are eligible to receive the medal.
